Sun Valley is a playground for whitewater rafting and kayaking enthusiasts. The Salmon River to the north and Snake River to the south offer class II, III, and IV rapids, with routes ranging from beginner “scenic floats” to grueling advanced trips. Guided excursions can be arranged through many local outfitters, who also offer rentals of rafts, inflatable kayaks and other gear. A summer visit to Sun Valley would not be complete without taking the opportunity to float one of these outstanding stretches of river.

White otter offers one day whitewater rafting and kayaking adventures on the Salmon River, in the Sawtooth Mountains near Stanley. Their trips are fun and safe for people of all ages. They have paddle rafts, oar boats and inflatable kayaks. They also offer class 4 whitewater in May and June during Spring run-off, with class 3 whitewater through the 1st part of September.
