From Hailey, Idaho (Friedman Memorial Airport)
Half a mile north on Airport Way. Take a left on HWY 75 and continue heading north for 13 miles. Turn left on River Street (note: if traffic is heavy, it may be better to continue one block to the stoplight on First Street before turning left). From Salt Lake City, Utah
290 Miles 4.5 – 5.0 Hours Take I-15 north out of Salt Lake City (71 miles) Take I-84 West towards Boise crossing into Idaho (144 miles). Take exit # 173 and turn right onto US Hwy. 93. Continue North to Shoshone (20 miles). In Shoshone, US Hwy 93 turns into Hwy 75 (no turns). Continue north on Hwy 75 through Bellevue then Hailey into Ketchum (55 miles).

From Boise, Idaho
151 Miles 2.5 – 3.0 Hours Take I-84 south to Mountain Home (41 miles) Take exit # 95 for Hwy 20 / Sun Valley . Turn left onto Hwy 20 and continue east (84 miles) Turn left onto Hwy 75 at the stoplight. Continue north through Bellevue, then Hailey into Ketchum (26 Miles).

From Boise, Idaho (In Snowing/Blowing Weather)
170 Miles 3.0 Hours Take I-84 south to exit #141 for Bliss / Hwy 26 (88 miles). Turn left onto Hwy 26 and continue east to Shoshone (27 miles). Turn Left onto Hwy 75 and continue north through Bellevue, then Hailey into Ketchum (55 miles).

From Twin Falls, Idaho
79 Miles 1.5 Hours Take Blue Lakes Blvd. (U.S. Highway 93) north out of Twin Falls and cross the Perrine bridge over the Snake River Canyon. Continue north on U.S. 93 to Shoshone (24 miles). In Shoshone, U.S. 93 turns into Highway 75 (no turns). Continue north on Highway 75 through Bellevue, then Hailey and into Ketchum (55 miles).

Friedman Memorial Airport
Sun Valley is served by Hailey's Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN). It's located 14 miles from the resort and is easily accessible from the gateway sites of Seattle (SEA), Los Angeles (LAX), Oakland (OAK) and Salt Lake City (SLC). These cities are served by most major airlines and are met by Sun Valley’s two connecting carriers: Horizon Air (Alaska Airlines) and SkyWest (Delta Connection).

In addition, Horizon Air now offers daily direct, non-stop flights between Sun Valley and Los Angeles, Oakland (winter only) and Seattle, putting west coasters just a few hours away from Sun Valley.

Other Airports
Boise International Airport (BOI) is 150 miles west of Sun Valley a scenic 2.5 hour drive. Many airlines provide daily non-stop flights from several major U.S. cities. Magic Valley Regional Airport (TWF) is located in Twin Falls, 95 miles south of Sun Valley. SkyWest/Delta Connection provides daily non-stop service to Salt Lake City.

NEW! By Bus or Shuttle

Twice daily bus service from Boise Airport to the Sun Valley Inn will begin December 19th and run through March 30th, 2009.

Sun Valley Stages will depart the Sun Valley Inn at 7:30 am, arriving at the Boise Airport at  10:30  am, and again at 10:00 am arriving in Boise at 1:00 pm. Return service will leave the Boise Airport at 1 pm, arriving in Sun Valley at 4:00 pm, and again at 3:30 pm, arriving in Sun Valley at 6:30 pm. The cost of a ticket is $50 for one way or $100 for round trip.

Getting Around

Sun Valley is a complete walking village, where automobiles are unnecessary. Condominium units are located within easy walking distance of the Sun Valley Village, but complimentary bus service is also available. The Sun Valley Resort also offers continuous round-trip service from the Village to both Dollar and Bald Mountains.

In addition, the Mountain Rides Transportation Authority system provides free transportation throughout the Wood River Valley, including continuous round trips from the Village to both Dollar and Bald Mountains - "Around Town " service.

For those who may wish to strike their own path, rental cars are available in the gateway cities as well as in Sun Valley.

Cars from Avis, Hertz, Enterprise and Budget may be dropped off at Friedman Memorial Airport. Those rented from U-Save, Thrifty and Practical can be picked up and dropped off at the resort. All other agencies book for round trip only.

NEW! Pick Up-Drop Off Service at Sun Valley Resort

Beginning the first week of December, those wishing to drive an Avis rental car to Sun Valley/Ketchum, Idaho from nearby Boise or Twin Falls can now pick up or drop off rental cars at the Sun Valley Lodge, with no drop off fee. For return trips, cars can be picked up and dropped off at either airport with no drop off charge. Customers previously had to pick up and drop off rental cars at the Friedman Memorial Airport located in Hailey, 12 miles south of Sun Valley, causing a gap in getting to Sun Valley/Ketchum. Local residents can also rent Avis cars directly from the Sun Valley Resort.
